The Swedish Energy Agency is investing in Linnovation's heating technology for ice-free hydropower.

We are delighted to announce that the Swedish Energy Agency has decided to finance our development project for modular heating panels for hydropower plants. For us at Linnovation, this is an important milestone and proof that our vision of smart and sustainable heating technology is right on time.

We are implementing the project in close collaboration with Sydkraft Hydropower / Uniper and are taking our patented heating technology from proven field performance to broad industrial use. The goal is to create energy-efficient, scalable and material-adapted solutions that prevent ice formation and ensure operational reliability in hydropower plants under demanding winter conditions.

Our ultra-thin heating panels are based on an embedded copper mesh that both heats and measures temperature in real time. This allows us to control the output adaptively and use four to five times less energy than traditional de-icing technology. During the 24 months of the project, we will test and verify the solution at full scale at Hällby hydroelectric power station, with the goal of raising the technology's maturity level from TRL 5 to TRL 7.

The fact that the Swedish Energy Agency has chosen to support our project is something we are very proud of. It shows that innovations that strengthen both renewable energy production and the robustness of winter operation play a central role in the energy system of the future. For hydropower, this means higher efficiency and safer operation during the coldest periods of the year.
